Common Brake Symptoms
Recognizing symptoms early can help address minor concerns before they develop into major mechanical failures. Below are common indicators that may suggest your brakes require attention.
Squeaking brakes
What you may notice: High-pitched squeaking when braking.
Possible causes: Worn brake pads, glazed pads or discs, dirt or rust on brake surfaces, or poor-quality pad materials.
Grinding noise
What you may notice: Metallic grinding sound when braking.
Possible causes: Severely worn brake pads (metal-on-metal), damaged brake discs, a stuck caliper, or foreign objects near the brake assembly.
Car pulls to one side
What you may notice: The car moves left or right during braking.
Possible causes: Uneven brake force distribution, a sticking caliper, suspension wear, or tire and alignment problems.
Soft brake pedal
What you may notice: The brake pedal feels soft, spongy or travels too far.
